A Move of Faith

"My life was turned upside down when my second husband passed from brain cancer in 2018.  Then 2020 happened.  And, just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, I suffered a heart attack in August 2020.

"When my biological daughter got a job in Stillwater, she asked if I would move here.  My first response was, “no.”  Frisco was where my husband and I raised my son.  My church that I loved was there. My support groups were there.  Frisco was my home.  Moving was scary to consider with just having had a heart attack two months earlier.  After a very long conversation with the Lord, I ended the prayer with, “Your will be done, Lord.”

"In October 2020, I retired and put my home up for sale, desiring to be obedient to what the Lord had planned for me.  To my amazement, it sold that first weekend.  I spoke to a realtor in Stillwater and found my lovely home.  God’s hands were in all the transition.  Even when I thought I couldn’t do this on my own, I was not alone.

"Once I arrived in Stillwater, I found Countryside and started attending. It was difficult getting to know people during the pandemic, but I eventually joined the Senior’s Sunday school and met Cathy Buzzard. She took me under her wings and became my friend.  Everyone in the class made me feel welcomed and loved.  I jumped into volunteering.  Countryside had become my church home.

"Putting faith into action may feel like a scary leap, but that is part of the testing and proving of our faith.  Stepping out in faith requires trusting God to do what He has already promised in His Word.

"Don’t be afraid of what God is calling you to.  God brings peace that replaces fear and allows you to step into the life God is leading you to live.  We don’t have to be special or perfect or have everything together.  God invites us to come and see what Jesus can do in our lives.  We only need to say yes to Him.

"God was faithful to me in my move to Stillwater to be near my biological daughter, and He also brought me into a great church family.  I hope my story encourages you to see what He will do with your obedience in the small parts of your life."
